Citizens of the UK and Ireland enjoy interchangeable rights - the right to work without getting a work permit, live and buy property without hindrance or visas, even vote in every election except for constitutional changes. You don't even need a passport to come here since we share a common travel area.
Your teaching credentials, I believe, are honoured here. But................
Young teachers who have been in the system for years and years are being let go at an unbelievable rate. One of the two teaching colleges is not accepting incoming students because of the glut on on the market.
As a primary teacher, you will have to be able to teach Irish and have passed an honours level exam in the subject. So, its not just a cupla focal, as they say. You'll have to be reasonably fluent.
Most primary schools are catholic denomination and you will be expected to teach catholic religion and prepare kids for communion and confirmation.
If all that doesn't put you off, check out the papers for possible positions.
National papers:

Local papers (a lot of them)

Good luck. This year in particular, you'll need it. My advice would be to come over on vacation, speak to a primary principal or two to get a feel for what's required and happening out there. Enjoy the vacation and IF you get a lead toward a job, then good for you. But, no harm done except, we all pray, a bit of a tan, if nothing comes of it.
