Cork is gorgeous, and they do have good care, but unlike the US where every major hospital has all the specialties covered, Ireland is very different. I met a women when I worked there that had MS and she had to travel from Sligo to Dublin every other month for treatments because St Vincents was the only hospital that provided them, Of course this was 3 years ago, I would investigate the hospitals and decide how far you want to travel to access care. Wicklow is close to Dublin, near the water and also very nice. This link is just for the private hospitals but I think St Vincents is listed. http://www.ntpf.ie/where/hospitals.asp
