Hey, THANKS, for the reply...
Yeah, I hear you on the truck and the roads - not to mention the walls on either side.
To clarify a bit - my husband grew up here so we aren't completely falling into it. We packed the container ourselves and my husband trucked the stuff to the port on the US side so we do know what we are getting into unpacking it. We do not know what we are getting into trying to find the right people/agents/companies here which was why we were trying to do port to door and avoid this whole scene. For us the few miles on this side is way more hectic than the couple hundred on the other. We have a lot of family/friends but no one familiar with shipping or those kinds of contacts. We had a lot in the US plus a lot of experience with shipping through our work and that went pretty smooth.
I do have a friend that was a trucker (in the EU but not Ireland) before changing professions - still has his license, knows the whole loading/unloading/crane etc process and is willing to drive but doesn't know the right people here.
Anyone??
