Perhaps I'm misreading the webpage.
http://www.foreignaffairs.gov.ie/home/index.aspx?id=254
It says that if neither parent is born in Ireland, then you need a certificate of entry with the Foreign Births register. (I'm assuming you wouldn't need to do this if at least one parent is born in Ireland?).
I honestly don't remember having to register my US born children when I applied for their passports. I only remember sending in my husbands Irish birth cert, our long form marriage cert and our children's birth certs with husband's name on those. (of course this was several years ago, so maybe something has changed?)
Scott? Any ideas on the foreign births registry? I don't want to give out the wrong info to anyone!

: I am an Irish citizen. My daughter was born in
: the states. She needs a certificate of
: citizenship in order to obtain an Irish
: passport. To get the certificate of
: citizenship, her birth needs to be
: registered in the foreign births registry.
: As I said before, contact your nearest
: consulate/embassy and request an fb1b form
: which is the form for registering a foreign
: birth on behalf of a minor.

: Since your husband is already a citizen,
: your
: children are automatically citizens as well.
: I don't think there's any urgency in doing
: this before your child is born. As for
: getting them Irish passports, it's not a
: problem..they will just need your husband's
: birth certificate/marriage certificates/any
: other pertinent info etc.
:
: If you want to do it in the US..contact the
: Irish embassy for the forms, otherwise you
: can pick up the forms at the post offices in
: Ireland once you are living there. I don't
: think you need to register them or
: anything..at least I never had to do that
: for my children (only me, being a US
: citizen!)

: My husband and I are expecting another child
: in early september. Would we need to
: register her in the births in Ireland, and
: then get a passport for her? Her father is
: an Irish citizen, I am an American and we
: would like them to have Irish citizenship as
: well. We had a son 14 months ago and we
: never registered him, should we of 3 months
: before the birth? We are also thinking of
: moving back soon- so it would be better
: before we move to have all this paperwork
: done for them.
: What are the procedures in going about doing
: this?
