This is the second recent thread about this subject. Basically, the government made a very, very bad decision to allow this company to go. As I understand it, SR Technics was profitable, but for reasons of its own the holding company decided to flush the Irish operation down the toilet. No discussion, no offers from anyone were entertained.
A management buyout didn't get the few million it needed from the government and Ireland just got rid of one of its premier businesses and training grounds for future technicians.
All those people are on the market looking for any jobs in the industry that are left.

: Considering that SR Technics is putting 1100
: aircraft maintenance people out of work I'm
: not sure where you would find a job to be

: Hello all! My husband and I have been
: wanting
: to move to Ireland for a couple of years.
: We've been applying him to jobs in the area
: but seems like no one wants to sponsor a
: work visa. My husband is currently a
: certified aircraft mechanic in the US. Can
: anyone tell me what he would have to do to
: get certified there? Would he be able to
: test out? Or can you tell me what is
: required? Also, does anyone know of any
: airlines or restoration places that would
: sponsor a work visa? Thanks for the help!!
