I just thought of something. Shannon Aerospace Ltd definitely and Air Atlanta Aero Engineering possibly have a 2 year training programme for aircraft mechanics. They come out licensed when they finish. Maybe you could research a study visa as a way of getting over. It would be back to school for him for 2 years and very little pay, but if such a visa exists, it may allow you to work. I really don't know anything about that side of it, but it's a small glimmer, maybe!

: Both myself and my husband are aircraft
: mechanics. I am an Irish citizen and worked
: for an aircraft maintenance company in
: Ireland for eight years before moving to the
: states. We had planned on moving back next
: year, but unfortunately after the SR
: Technics announcement, we are holding off. I
: was planning on going back to the same
: company, but I imagine any openings they may
: have had are filled by now. Not a good time
: to look for work! Maybe hold off for a while
: if you can.
:
: As for his qualifications, if he wants to
: work for a JAR 145 company, his A&P license
: will already be recognised, don't need to do
: anything just interview. For a JAR 135 job
: however, he will have to go through several
: classes and exams to get the EASA Part 66
: B1/B2 License. The A&P License is worth
: absolutely nothing toward these exams either
: unfortunately. Good luck, take the time to
: research thoroughly.

: Considering that SR Technics is putting 1100
: aircraft maintenance people out of work I'm
: not sure where you would find a job to be
: honest.

: Hello all! My husband and I have been
: wanting
: to move to Ireland for a couple of years.
: We've been applying him to jobs in the area
: but seems like no one wants to sponsor a
: work visa. My husband is currently a
: certified aircraft mechanic in the US. Can
: anyone tell me what he would have to do to
: get certified there? Would he be able to
: test out? Or can you tell me what is
: required? Also, does anyone know of any
: airlines or restoration places that would
: sponsor a work visa? Thanks for the help!!
