Hey Clair
Nice to hear of another South African family heading out to Ireland. My wife, son and myself are hoping to head to Galway in June.
Like you said Scott has put together an excellent site (thanks Scott) but if there is any info you are looking for from a South African perspective and can't find then drop me and email at david@dayandnight.co.za and perhaps we may have found the answer already.
Just for the record my son and I hold Irish passports (my mum was born in Mitchellstown in County Cork) and my wife has a British passport.
Cheers
Dave

: It's the British citizenship that counts. As
: the immediate family of an EU citizen, you
: should be fine.
:
: All the information and application forms
: that you need are located at the immigration
: service website where they discuss
: dependents of EEA citizens. The EEA is the

: This should help.

: Hi there,
:
: I first wanted to say how useful your site
: has been in my research - thank you!
:
: We are wanting to move from South Africa to
: Co Cork sometime in the next few months. I
: have a british passport, my husband & 2
: small children have South African passports.
: My husband telecommutes for a company in the
: UK & it is, in this unstable time, a
: stable position.
:
: My question is this, what do we need to
: apply for when we get here, we don't need
: visas to arrive, but I know that we have to
: go see the Garda within 7 days to ask if we
: can stay permanently. We will be apying tax
: in Ireland. Will they let us stay? And do
: you know what documentation we require?
:
: If anyone can help, it would be most
: appreciated!
:
: Kind regards
: Clair
