Hi LK,
Thanks for the response.
No, I'm not an EU citizen but I read on the Irish immigration website that there is a Green Card preference for IT people...and so what it really all comes down to is a good job offer. As for the cost of living, health insurance etc - those are all good points to take into consideration but again, it all comes down to finding a good job. And, yes, I'll probably subscribe to the full site and do my full homework on all of the details.
Thanks again.
John

: Hi John, not sure where you're moving from,
: but are you an EU citizen, if not, I think
: you'll find it even harder still. Right now
: there is a lot of competition and more
: companies are closing every day--and this is
: just the start. Good luck, but I still
: advise that you subscribe to the full
: site--there's a lot to consider (ie., health
: insurance, schools if you have children,
: cost of living, etc.)

: Hi there,
: My wife and I would like to move to Ireland
: later on in the year. However, this will
: depend on me finding a job first. I'm an IT
: manager and I'm currently working toward
: some certifications to boost my resume. I'd
: like to have some job interviews set up in
: time for our little reconnaissance trip at
: the end of April - the trip itself will be
: about 2 weeks long. I'm thinking about
: approaching some recruiters and maybe answer
: some ads on various job posting
: sites...however, I was wondering how soon
: before the trip do you think I should start
: applying for jobs? I was thinking maybe a
: month before the April trip...??
:
: Any suggestions?
:
: p.s.
: I really like the movetoireland.com
: website...and will probably start
: subscribing to it soon...
