Hmmm 4-6 months sound very long...I would think once contacted, a prospective employer would want to schedule an interview anywhere from that same week to maybe the next. However, I was thinking about replying to job posts around a month before the 2 week trip - allowing enough time for them to sift through/find my CV and approve it before contacting me...But as mentioned...lots of variables here :-)
