Hello all! Just found this website, and it looks like a great resource.
Me and a friend are starting a plan to move to Ireland from the US. Neither of us are eligible for EU or Irish citizenship, but we are both in high-demand fields. I'm a CPA (Accountant/Financial Analyst) and she's a nurse. We plan on doing this slowly, and with lots of research.
We will probably try to go over there to visit and look at it with an eye for living, which is different from just vacationing. We want to live in the west, perhaps near Galway or Cork, as that will allow us to find jobs more easily.
Any advice you can give on the process? We know we are both eligible for green cards, as we are in those aforementioned highly sought after fields. Is it worth it to become an Irish CPA or ACCA first? Or will my US CPA license be good enough to secure a job, and then pursue the Irish equivalent once I'm there? What about nursing license equivalence?
What should we watch out for? We both grew up in Miami, but have since moved to slower, more relaxed areas (rural north Florida for me, north California for her). I know that deliveries and such are MUCH less urgent over in Ireland, I've been duly warned.
I appreciate all advice!
