The citizensinformation.ie site has some advice for people moving FROM Ireland. Nothing there about notifying Garda but there are some helpful suggestions about papers to bring, social security information and the like.

Sorry for the delay in getting this second message out. I was travelling and am getting back into the groove today. Bad connections made keeping up plain impossible.

: I've never heard or read of any rules about
: notifying the Gardai when leaving. Nor have
: I heard a story from anyone about doing
: anything like that. The Gardai are concerned
: about people trying to get in.

: Good question. One step further...do you
: have a checklist for the second try? Such as
: reactivating PPS numbers, etc...

: Hi all..
:
: I am working in Ireland but the job hasn't
: worked out and I gave my notice and am
: leaving Ireland. Does anyone know if I have
: to do anything like report to the Gardai and
: tell them I am leaving? Get a special stamp
: in my passport? I don't want to have any
: trouble when I come back as a tourist
