The American Embassy in Dublin has a list of accountants that are qualified with both Irish & US taxes and they will be able to answer your questions correctly.

: Can anyone help?
: We are retired from the US, all income from
: the US, paying Irish Income Tax, resident
: but not domiciled.
: In previous years our income has been lower
: than our remittances to Ireland, so
: straightforward - pay Irish tax less the
: credit for US tax paid.
: However, for 2007, our income is higher than
: the remittances. We only have to pay Irish
: tax on the remittances.
: But, how do we know what US tax to file as
: credit? Surely not all of it? Pro rata? ???
: Thanks.
