Posted by billyboy on October 2, 2001, 12:26 pm Normally, I greet messages that pronounce the impending death of a site or a final final final farewell from a message board as a childish plea for a bunch of 'Oh please, don't go!' responses. But I don't think you're being childish, I think you're truly upset and discouraged by the apparent lack of interest in your website. And I know that a compliment asked for is not nearly as nice to receive as an unsolicited one, but here's one anyway: "Oh please, don't go!" You had a terrific 2nd anniversary update, obviously with a lot of time and effort spent not only in finding and scanning the pics, but finding reliable web space to house them. My response to you was similar to most of the hundreds of people who visit your site: silence. Even though, in the last 3 weeks, 99% of my web surfing has been related to news and terrorists and Afghanistan, I still check out your site almost every day. And so do a lot of people -- the counter on the title page is way over 100,000 hits! I would be truly saddened to see the site slowly disintegrate, but in the end it's entirely your call. Sure, there are other superheroine sites on the web, there's a million of 'em. But compared to your site, they rarely interest me. In fact, they only interest me if there's a secret identity involved. I think there's an interest and a demand for this kind of site, and I hope a lot of people come out of the woodwork and let you know your work is appreciated.
This is truly a sad day, and I'm just a guilty as everybody else for simply taking for granted the hard work you've done. While I'm not sure you count me as one of the two people who've talked with you in the past, I fondly recall our emails and swapped pics a couple years ago. Circumstances in the last year have made it somewhat difficult to continue the level of communication we had in the past, but to be honest I could have done SOMETHING.
