Posted by Red-Five on August 13, 2001, 4:52 am Okay, her secret identity? Well I guess a Diana Prince type character, hair in a bun and glasses, but with a very smart suit (skirt not pants) in navy blue or black (very conservative colours) and a nice blouse underneath. As for the transformation, well lets break it down into its constituant parts. Firstly there's the look of horror and panic as our heroine realises something terrible is about to happen. Next comes the paniced glances in all directions, searching for an appropriately secure spot to switch identity. Having arrived at her choosen destination, we see the nervous glances around to ensure nobody is looking, as she reaches up towards her blouse. Then RIIIIP - the dowdy disguise is thrust open to reveal the lovely Supergirl costume underneath. For variety, how about giving her a hard time finding a secure spot to transform - watching the frustration build as she is gagging more and more to switch identity, and time is running out? Or to really cheese her off, how about an aborted transformation because some well-meaning friend wanders in on her and insists on taking her to safety?
Okay, sorry to be boring, but Helen Slater's Supergirl costume was about as good as it gets for me as a superheroine outfit. Not that I'm against Wonder Woman or anything like that, but the 'S' shield contours her chest so magnificently, the design is simple, and the colours are vivid - which makes all the difference when you see it burst out from under a blouse.
