Usmani revealed that Taliban leader Mullah Mohammad Omar is similarly alive and well. He said Omar remained in command of the hard-line Islamic militia which formerly ruled Afghanistan. Both bin Laden and Omar have huge bounties on their heads. They are thought to be hiding in the rugged tribal areas between Afghanistan and Pakistan. Pakistani journalist Nazir Leghari said he was blindfolded and taken to a secret location to interview Usmani. "The interview was conducted in a tent with mountains around and armed guards remained alert through the interview," he said. "He was very relaxed throughout the interview and gave no impression or sign of defeat."
