The weekly Cabinet meeting, chaired by Crown Prince Abdullah, also urged the international community to make the Middle East, including the Gulf region, free of weapons of mass destruction. “Israel must sign the NPT and all its nuclear facilities must be subject to inspection by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and this must be made a basic condition for any future security arrangement,” the Cabinet said. On Sunday, a Foreign Ministry official confirmed that the Kingdom does not possess any nuclear facilities or reactors. The official reiterated Saudi Arabia’s commitment to international charters related to nuclear energy and said the Kingdom was ready to cooperate with the IAEA.
