Posted by NEWS on 23/10/2004, 17:48:13 PESHAWAR: Participants of a seminar here on Sunday said not the arsenal but coward Muslim rulers were the real power of America, and they asked Muslims to overthrow them. The demand was made at a seminar on ‘Attack on Iraq: what should be our response?’ organized by Hizbut Tahrir Pakistan. They also demanded withdrawal of Muslim countries from the United Nations and closing down of the US embassies in all Muslim countries. Hizb spokesman Mr Naveed Butt said US embassies that had become training centres for its agents in Muslim countries should be closed down. “Muslim countries should withdraw from the United Nations as it had become a tool in the hands of America to advance its policies around the world,” he said. Mr Butt said all the contracts with multinational companies should be suspended as these companies followed American policies. He urged all political parties to unite people and set a direction before them in event of the US attack on Iraq. He said masses should build up pressure on the government to restrain it from supporting America. “We should ask Pakistan army not to support an imperialist power against innocent Iraqis, rather defend Muslims,” he urged. The US, he said, wanted to make Iraq a test case for its new doctrine of ‘preemptive strikes’. He said America would use attack on Iraq as a precedent for attacks against other countries like Pakistan in future on the pretext of having weapons of mass destruction. “The Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) is the first step towards attacking Pakistan,” he said, adding the INS would make it easier for the US authorities to put Pakistanis in concentration camps in case of attack on Pakistan. “America put the Japanese in concentration camps during the First World War and now it wanted to treat Pakistanis living in America the same way,” he said. He criticised Gen Pervez Musharraf for supporting the US, saying if Mr Musharraf knew Pakistan would be the next target of America, he should withdraw his support from it. The seminar was also addressed by former vice chancellor, University of Peshawar, Dr Abdul Mateen, Mr Jalil Jan, secretary information Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, Hakim Abdul Waheed, provincial naib ameer Jamaat-e-Islami, Maj (r) Fateh Muhammad, provincial ameer Tanzeem-e-Islami and members of Hizbut Tahrir, Mr Taimur Butt and Mr Usman Sharif.
