Few parties last 8 years but Akoustik Anarkhy has always been a little different than your average party. aA has Loved by kids often simply for the infectious enthusiasm the 6 strong Akoustik Anarkhy crew manage to bring to a party, the vibe is most definitely upbeat. Live acts are always personally selected & the DJ's have a splendid knack of keeping things bouncing. For this trio of 8th Birthday Party shows Akoustik Anarkhy have headline live sets from some of the key acts from their own label stable & some friends that they are itching for you to see. It’s simple – Come down & Get Involved. Autokat are the trademark Akoustik Anarkhy band. Informed by the shadows of the city, the paranoia of urban life and the hangover of too much partying, they produce tense, turbulent, uplifting & melodic music. Following on the success of 3 super rare 7” singles their debut album ‘Late Night Shopping’ was released in March 2007 on Akoustik Anarkhy Recordings to richly deserved acclaim. Tokyo based Electronic label Third Ear loved the record so much they quickly signed the band up for Japan while their 4th UK Single ‘Innocence’, a driving pop delight, was Steve Lamacq’s BBC 6 Music Single Of The Week. Selective with their live shows, full houses from a fervent following are now common. October 26th’s aA 8th Birthday Party performance promises to be something special. The Loungs are a six piece band-cum-gang that produce kaleidoscopic pop. Music filled with colour and sunshine, peppered with trumpets, time changes, made-up words and catchy, singalong choruses, File next to Super Furry Animals, The Beta Band, ELO and that weird album you bought in the Age Concern shop because you liked the cover. Their debut album We Are The Champ, released on Akoustik Anarkhy Recording in May 2007, was fantastically well received & saw the band invited to play many of the UK’s Music Festivals – Glastonbury, Bestival, Beatherder, Knowsley Hall, Lounge on the farm & many more. ‘Googly Moogly’ the last single to be lifted from their album hits shops on 15th October with the album being re-released a week later – 22nd October. LA Pals – Glorious shimmering pop evocative of childhood holidays & lost afternoons in the garden. The latest act to be unearthed by aA. Working For A Nuclear Free City - heady mix of psychedelia, krautrock and electronica and on one of aA’s favourite labels – fellow Manc independent Melodic. Roy Moller – Glasgow Belle & Sebastian collaborator. 60s influenced killer melodies, choruses & hooks. Dates for the diary: Saturday 20th October – Brixton Windmill, London – THE LOUNGS, Roy Moller + support. aA DJ’s Soft Priest, young Will & Lego will be manning decks at all three parties spinning an eclectic mix of Avant pop, electronic knees up, late sixties west coast psych, skiffle, hip hop, rockabilly, english folk, tv themes, punk 45s, party classics and acid house. www.akoustikanarkhy.co.uk
