Posted by AgaugeFor on 11/4/2003, 2:00 pm Thanks for the message, Well I guess everything you have complained about comes down to $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$, AgaugeFor would love to come to Adelaide, But unfortunately we can't afford to. Not sure if you are aware but to hire a van would cost Approx $600 + Petrol + accom. AgaugeFor is a totally indi band , so that means we don't get cash support from any record label, any management company or and booking agent, unlike the band you mentioned in your message. When you see bands that are signed to a record labels or management companies, like the ones you mentioned they get cash advances from the label, which means they have to pay the $$$ back at some point but it allows the band to tour, do merch, do promo posters, stickers demos cd ect. Say to do a run of posters and t shirts you would be looking at approx $1000 - $2000, If you feel we are a great band and I really appreciate that, maybe you can put the cash up front so we can come and play in Adelaide as we'd love to. Money, makes the world go around and without it in the music industry it makes things a little hard to say the least. We were lucky enough to get the album out, we had alot of great people help us out with recording the album and giving us great discounts as they knew the situation. As far as our web site, So I hope this makes you understand the costs of being in a band. Are you on our email list? as I did an email saying the new album was out? You see sending email is the most cost affective way to get information out....... and by the way, don't believe the marketing hype that runs the music industry, just because a band has ads in your fav mag or they are sending you promo merch doesn't mean they are better or worse than the next band, like I said earlier ..... it comes down to cash. Do you seriously thing Delta Goodrem would be where she is without a 6 figure marketing budget!!!!!!!!! Hi Jess,
to advertise like all the bands with Labels and Management in say street press and glossy mags, costs from $200 to $2000 depending on the publication, so now you can see why AgaugeFor can't do this sort of thing.
Adrian who used to play bass for us did it as he was in the band.
He has since left the band so he no longer does the site,
to get a new site put up and do weekly up dates would cost Approx $550 to $1500 depending on the site, + up dates each week.
If you know any one that can do a site for free then let me know.
