Oh Lisa, My heart goes out to you. You sound so unhappy right now.
More than just the boys being friends, which I believe is inconsequential, I don't like the tone of your marriage. You say that you are so unhappy and that you stay because you stay because its easier.
It sounds as if the work on the affair and on your marriage was unfinished. There are many issues to still be resolved. You want joy and love back and it is still possible if both of you want it and both of you still want to work more to get it.
Go to marital therapy. It will help a lot. You must find the best professional for this task because there are so many unqualified ones out there who call themselves therapists. A Clinical Psychologist who specializes in marital therapy is a good start. A website www.dearpeggy.com has a list of these professionals all over the country who specialize in infidelity recovery.
It actually took me about 4 years before I was really healed. We went to therapy for about 3 years and it was worth all the work.
Good luck,
Sophia
