My husband did have an affair many years ago under circumstances just as you have described.
This set up a marriage of mistrust and affairs by both of us. Lots of pain and distance, of course.
Boy how I wish that we had Joy's advise and had gone for marital therapy. A good therapist could have saved us so many years of grief.
DON'T DO IT!!!! It doesn't solve anything.
A loving understanding marriage solves everything.
