Sophia, thanks for your response. It contains so much wisdom. A year ago, before all this happened, I think I could have responded to such an admission with wisdom. Now, I just feel lost.
The things I was so sure about before, I'm not so sure about anymore. The points you have made about why people have an affair, my counselor has also made. But to me the answers to why it happened don't seem so straightforward as that. In the times I have recounted what happened (to my husband, to my counselor) the real why has yet to emerge to a point that I can recognize it and know that something specific was indeed the reason. Maybe I haven't allowed enough time to elapse.
