My soon to be ex cheated on me, we were together for a long time and I never thought something like that would ever happen.

We tried to get back together but I had a big issue with trust and I also think she really didn't want the relationship anyway.

I don't know what to say other then give it a try but realize that it will never be the same as it was. In your case it looks like he wants the relationship to work.

Counseling did help.......
