Oh gosh Abby I remember those triggers and being punched in the gut with every reminder. Now, I can even look at their motels without feeling anything. It took about 7 years to get to that point.
It sounds as if the two of you are doing very well for only a year.
You say that you don't want to remind him of the affair, but only of your broken heart. Don't worry about reminding him of the affair. It has lost its magic when it has been exposed for what it really was. Don't stop communicating to him about how you feel. Put it in non-punishing terms and it will bring closeness.
