To save money I purchased the kids clothes at used clothing stores and yard sales. You can put some of your clothes on consignment to make money. I also purchased as much as I could at Dollar General store and my husband did not know the difference. Also, you can do without a lot of extra stuff for yourself, by using that extra hand lotion, etc. that is left but maybe not your favorite. Then deposit whatever money into your secret account that you can. Once out, I found out that The Salvation Army is very generous, as well as other food and clothing banks around town. You have to seek them out. Also, if you are, and even if you are not, leaving an abusive relationship even if your husband is making money, say that you have no access to it, and you will easily get Medicaid, food stamps, and a monthly welfare check. You may have to attend a one week job hunting course to get these, but the shelter will take care of your kids while you are in class.
