One day, you will not feel so alone, the day that you learn to love and accept yourself. The day that you find that you can live and love on your own without the companionship of another person. Goldie was onto something, more than just a financial aspect. She could have broadened that perspective into emotional, mental and physical stabilities. In an Adlerian (psychotherapist and inventor of Adlerian Theory), an whole-being completeness is the important part of self love. You obviously are a very strong person to have left and stayed away for this long. It's okay to have good memories, but don't dismiss the bad ones, they keep things in check with why you left. You aren't alone in this either. We all have gone through similiar emotions. Just keep in touch, and stay strong, you can do this!

Renee-
I left my boyfriend/fiancee (same situation as yours) of 4 years in March. Well, I left him in my mind and physically moved out at the beginning of July. This is the third time that I left him. This time it is for good. I miss the wonderful things about him, but I now wear a rubber band around my wrist and when I start to get down on myself for leaving I snap it- realizing that that is HIM talking in my head.
