I know some of you are doing it year round and never stop thinking of school.
I am not doing as much A Beka this year. Part of it is because I seem to have lost a lot of my 6th grade books. I hate buying them because this is my last child, so I have been buying used stuff. I bought BJU reading (older set but works!) for $12 or something. I am still going to do the Read and Think Skills sheet and the speed reader because he actually enjoys them (weird kid!). So I am buying some BJU stuff cheap and will use that. I will stick with math as I bought that last year used and cheap. I also will stick with language because I like their books. It is mostly history and science I am changing. The co-op I belong to is doing a health class so I will be taking advantage of that and not teaching it myself. I am using Spelling Power or at least that is the plan. I hear good things about it so hopefully it will work. I need something because that is his worst subject and A Beka didn't work for him.
My middle son will be doing 10th. With the co-op he is doing Apologia Biology, Spanish, and a Grammar/writing class. I am not sure what they are using yet, so we may still be doing A Beka for that. I will probably be doing A Beka Spelling with him. (Funny how it works for one and not the other). We are using Teaching Textbooks for Algebra II. He did World History in co-op last year so we are moving on to US History and I will uses A Beka for that because I think I have the books for it already. If I don't, I will buy what is cheapest! lol Money is so tight this year. We are feeling the crunch so we save where we can.
My oldest graduated last year and had planned on going to college, but we decided together (dh, ds, and myself)that he needs to wait a year. He is only 17 and he doesn't feel ready and we don't feel he is either. So, he will stay with us and work for now. If he would have listened to us before, he could have at least taken a class or two at the local college but he was stubborn (gee wonder where he gets that?
). Now it is too late to apply. He can work and learn what it is like to be a man.
What are you all planning for next year or haven't you even thought of it yet? Did you accomplish what you wanted or needed to yet or will you still be working until th end of summer? How is your summer going? Busy as ours? TALK Ladies!
Having too much fun with the dumb smiley faces. Sorry!
