Hi Kimberly! Good to hear from you. :-) I never knew until a couple of years ago about ds, dh, etc. DS is "dear son", dh is "dear husband", dd is "dear daughter", and so on. And, BTW, no question is ridiculous.
I've attached a link for Spelling Power, hopefully the link will work for you. It's a complete k-12 spelling program. I know a few homeschoolers that use it, and they say that even their children that are not great at spelling, love this program. It's not cheap, but more than one child can use it from k-12. I almost bought it at our homeschool convention, but since we had purchased so much, I figured we should wait a few weeks, and I'll shop around online for the best price. Shelly mentioned in her post that she has it, but hasn't started it yet.
We have Rosetta Stone for foreign language, and we do like it a lot, even though we don't get on it as much as I would like to. We have the Spanish CD. I thought about ABeka, but I don't think my kids can stand 1 more workbook!!
I think it's wonderful that you have taken on the awesome privilege and responsibility of VBS Director! I will pray for you, that God would give you creative ideas, wisdom, direction, and patience to shed the light of Jesus Christ to those precious children and your community. Sounds to me as though you have a real heart for those that don't yet know Christ; you'll be fine. Surround yourself with faithful and available volunteers, and what a difference that makes! Years ago, dh and I used to run the 1st-6th grade children's church, then were youth pastors for awhile. Good helpers are vital!
O.K. off to get my daughter to bed, so I've got to run. It was good to catch up, and hopefully I'll get on more often.
You be blessed mightily today.
