I am sorry about your dad. I lost my step-dad right after Thanksgiving. It is tough. I hope your mom is adjusting well. Luckily my mom had my grandma to help her.
We use Teaching Textbooks for Algebra, Algebra II, and Geometry. My kids understand it so much better. I think you will like it.
I did choose Spelling Power, but I really haven't used it. My ds will be behind in spelling this year. Hopefully he will catch up over the years. He is going to have a rough time with it anyway. I just haven't done anything with it. I know that is bad but right now, he just doesn't need to start anything new. Next year we will work on it. He will be fine. I know a lot of people like it and use it and it works for them.
Monday I am leaving on a cruise with my dh! My mil gave us money to go on a vacation just the two of us. We are going to the Caymen Islands and Cozamel. (I think I spelled that wrong). Anyway, we leave Monday and return Saturday. We are so excited. I have waited 20 yrs. for this honeymoon! 
My oldest got into a car accident. It was his fault, but it wasn't. I think if I had been in the situation, I would have had the accident too. A car 3 cars up turned suddenly with no signal and barely stopped. That caused all the other cars to barely stop and then my ds ran into the car in front of him. (does that all make sense?) Anyway since he is a minor, we have to go to court Thursday. It is really stupid.
Other than that, I can't think of any other exciting things or newsy items. Same old thing day in and out. LOL
I am glad to have you back. It has been quiet around here.
