Interesting. I guess that one could argue that as long as Canadians accept Charles as their formal Head of State the oath stands but one would think that with the massive influx of immigrants and the more liberal stand among younger generations the support for the monarchy would be waining enough to warrant a change here and there. It would be more appropriate I think if the oath in modern monarchies would focus only on the upholding of the constitution and laws of the land and not to any specific person or their heirs and successors. That makes it very uncomfortable in this modern day and age I think. Pledging loyalty and allegiance to a president or a monarch makes no sense really because they have to take an oath on the constitution themselves... No one is above the law. Well perhaps former presidents in the US... best democracy in the world. LOL
