The quiche looks delicious, Karen. But it hardly ranks as festive English cooking or, indeed, festive cooking in any culinary tradition!
I am perplexed as to why anyone thinks that a quiche is an appropriate dish to celebrate the coronation of a BRITISH king? Charles might not descend from Henry IV or V, but he does descend directly from the earliest Edwards (I-III). Steak, kidney and oyster pudding, I say! Perhaps preceded by a good Mulligatawny with a cream junket and blackberries for pudding. A quiche at a British coronation is a bit like a ham sandwich at a Bar Mitsvah.
But wait - is this another case of the Government using King Charles in 'soft diplomacy' with Europe, post-Brexit, or is The King is planning to revert to the old tradition of styling Himself King of France, etc and quartering his arms with those of that currently benighted country in revenge for recent cancellations.
