I had assumed that now that Edward had finally become a Royal Duke, at the same level as Andrew, his daughter's style would pair with Andrew's daughters, although there was that hic up at the time of Edward and Sophie's wedding preventing these (future) queen's grand-children on the male line to become princes/princesses.
You’re welcome! Louise and James have always had the title and rank of prince(ss) though and are entitled to the style of ‘Royal Highness’. They are just not using those titles and styles, which is why the courtesy titles as children of otherwise non-royal dukes/earls have been used.
It is only when the princely title is used that it is customary for the father’s highest peerage designation to be employed. This is simply an instance where individuals’ parents chose not to use the highest forms of address to which their children are entitled, and where Louise, having attained her majority, is presently choosing not to use her highest form of address available to her.
The King, however, is the final arbiter on how his family is styled in his realms and I imagine neither James nor Louise would use their princely titles if His Majesty explicitly asked them not to, which is not the same as revoking said titles and styles.
