Thank you, Karen! In that case it was definitely a card, which explains why the Royal Mail truck delivered it.

This is such a wonderful tradition. And the story bring back a happy memory of the time our family was in our favorite village in England, and our children were asked to present the village's birthday card to a lady in the town who was turning 100. A Royal Mail truck drove up and delivered a card (or was it a telegram?) from the Queen. And my husband got to join the local bellringers to ring the church bells in celebration. Very exciting for our family!
Telegram or card depends in which year the lady celebrated her 100th birthday. If it was before 1999 then it would have been a telegram, after 1999 a card.
