So a short period until the toned down and modern day coronation is just what's needed now.
At just under 8 months since the late Queen's death this will be the shortest gap between the death of the previous monarch and the coronation of the next one. At all previous coronations going back as far as George IV's in 1821, there has been at least a year between the two events. The only exception was George VI's coronation which took place just 5 months following his accession but that was because he succeeded an abdicated monarch and the date for that coronation had already been planned for his predecessor which was over a year following the death of their father, George V.
So already there has been a marked break with recent royal tradition in the planning of the new king's coronation.
