My Mother was nearly 17 when the late Queen was crowned. We've been chatting about the Coronation and she hopes that Charles doesn't cut back to much with his. She remembers how the Coronation in 1953 seemed to lift people and bring a lot of brightness to a otherwise dull and miserable country.
This is an excellent and even profound point you make. The reason I say "profound" is that the world and its history brings along different types of catastrophe and dark events - a world war is one, but a pandemic and its aftermath and the sense of devastation with so many dead again in the present day is another human catastrophe. So the upcoming coronation can again lift people up - provide that spirit of continuity and endurance that earlier generations depended on.
