I'm wondering if this is something the King needs to address? Does he need to say that despite the dynastic change the name of the Royal House remains Windsor?
Is it possible he would change the name of the Royal House to Mountbatten?
I very much doubt it - though that would certainly have pleased his father, and not least his Uncle Dickie...
With the accession of Charles III, the Glücksberg branch of the House of Oldenburg now includes the UK amongst the monarchs who are members of it. The list now includes the Queen of Denmark, the King of Norway and the new British monarch and also includes the former monarchs of Greece and Russia.
Of course the British dynastic name no doubt remains officially 'Windsor' but as dynasties traditionally follow patrilineal descent it has changed to Oldenburg even if unofficially. It is the first change of dynasty according to patrilineal descent since 1901 when the House of Saxe Coburg & Gotha succeeded the House of Hanover in the person of Edward VII whose successor, George V, anglicised it to 'Windsor' in 1917.
