In contrast, my great-grandmother was nearly 96 when died a decade ago (I was in my early twenties). She seemed to be in perfect health and lived independent until one of her legs suddenly became paralyzed while shopping. At the hospital we found out she had terminal brain cancer. She spent her last days in palliative care… but lingered for six weeks! It was horrible and made coming to peace with an inevitability of nature prolonged and much more difficult. It was awful.
Seems strange that she was well enough to receive the outgoing and incoming prime ministers only yesterday and yet this sudden collapse within 24 hours!
Obviously there has been something much more serious going on than simple mobility issues. There have been comments about a large bruise on her right hand in the picture of her with Liz Truss yesterday and wonder if she has suffered a fall? As happened with my late mother, falls can be very serious for people of advanced age and can trigger all sorts of damaging health repercussions!
