None of this story makes any sense to me. I fail to see how Archibald could become Prince Jonathan Doria Pamphili as a result of adoption by a woman whose husband was called Frank Pogson, as princely titles tend not to be inherited through the female line, nor is it usual for adoption to result in ennoblement. But, if that can happen, I fail to see how Mary / Gesine can object to her adoptive brother's biological children becoming his heirs.
