The BBC article below is highly inaccurate. Among other errors, it describes Gwenllian as "heir to the Welsh throne". But there was no single "Welsh throne", and, if there had been, Gwenllian, as a female, would not have been heir. In reality, Llywelyn's heir in Gwynedd was his brother David.
Nor was Gwenllian ever a "princess", because until the reign of Henry VIII, the daughter of a king was styled Lady.
To say that she was "captured and taken to a monastery in England" is somewhat misleading: she was just a few months old and she was an orphan.
