Giscard d'Estaing's memoir - secret romance with Diana?

Former French president, Giscard d'Estaing, has written a novel about a secret romance btw a French president and an unhappy British princess. Speculation that the novel's princess was the Princess of Wales. Whether it's true or not that the mystery princess was Princess of Wales, it's definitely true that the allusion is TACKY especially from someone of Giscard's stature.
