HM Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands and HRH Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh
attended the 65th commemoration of the liberation of Nijmegen (WWII)
on September 20, 2009 in Nijmegen, the Netherlands.
**** The reason HRH attended lies in the fact that he is Colonel-in-Chief of the Grenadier Guards,
who were fighting to free Nijmegen at that time.
There's now a special part of the Grenadier Guards named
"Nijmegen Company" and they wear that name proudly!
