The Prince has no any power. He has influence.
It are the decisionmakers who have weak knees, or a servile attitude, or are afraid to get the future King 'non-amused' who decide upon this.
In essence the Prince's opinion is a worth as much as that of the lady yelling around the corner to get her vegetables sold on the market. So there is no any misuse of 'power' whatsoever. And even if the Prince has interests in certain projects, for an example because he owns lands or estates, then he is just having the right every proprietor in Britain has, to voice his/her opinions.
