A salaamu alaikum,
Right now- we have firaq who spend the majority of their time trying to erradicate other firaq!
The fitna this makes has robbed us of 25 years time. Since 1980 it was needed to advocate for all the oppressed Muslims globally. This loss of precious time greives me. Helpless Muslims did not get assistance from the rich Muslims because those people were distracted. Failure to see the Big Picture is a trait of cults! They were distracted by obsessions over small details of personal prefference. It suspends critical thinking in the best cults- obsessions over details. I mean by that they are worrying about some trivial matters in the face of genocidal wars, mass starvation and illiteracy. And now of late the end of the petroleum based civilisation , peak oil and global warming.Suddenly debates over the sinfulness of chess seem -well stupid.
Now with all this said- IS IT NESSESARY ? to attack openly the sects of Islam when the Marxists, Zionists, Warmonger kleptocrats alike plot our ruined future?
Personally, I am willing to gently correct any wrong heresy, if it comes before me personally. I will not go out looking for Muslims to correct. I am too busy trying to hold on to what gains we have made so far.
The socialists run through the masjid insulting converts with one view. That is to make them alienated so they will leave Islam. People converted to Christians are openly looking for people to "help". They "help" them right out of Islam! To exploitation we should not add fighting over heresies.
So I am looking carefully at the motives of anyone who openly attacks sects, or individuals. Those who are asking many personal questions or who are too friendly I do not like much. They just never get around to talking about Islam.
Cults cannot take root in formally organised events; run by qualified clerics with strictly scheduled time; and focused on Ibadaat! The cult wants to manipulate people with personal information. Shut thy mouth and pull out your TASBIH.
Intra-personal exploitation goes hand in hand with destructive cultism. In particular if it serves no purpose except the cult member's ego needs. All of them want something from their victims and it's not Islam!
I dislike to say it.
We need unity and we need it now. The sects are not divisive. The debates and fitna over KALAM are divisive.
If we had ahlus sunnah wal jammaat curriculum then we could teach every new Muslim their AQUIDA . It's finally happening al hamdullilah!
This is not happening everywhere because the neo karijite sect has not permitted it. The reasons are obvious. Consensus(IJMA) is not on their map.
So we need to start all over- from the beginning- and teach the AQUIDA to every member of the Ummaat. They also need to learn history.
Opportunistic leaders should not be in charge, especially cult driven people with no formal education in Islam. They aren't useing critical thinking. There is no "US " with such people. We need to do this basic education long before we start bad mouthing sects to any Muslim. Heresy and it's prosecution is the job of ullema. The Ummaat needs to be busy teaching others. When 50% of the converts do not know their salaah or aquida then it's a failed DAWAAT. Moreover these new converts get "fitna talk" and it makes them dislike the experience of intollerant Islam.
Same thing with kids. If you want kids alienated argue in front of them over religion. People busy learning don't squabble.
People Come into Islam looking for what is spiritual. Converts are not looking for people in need of punishment. Authoritarian approaches work in certain places and fail in other places completely.
Idealistic people will find bigotry and intollerance unacceptable and they will go where there is respect, courtesy, intelligence/learning opportunities and spiritual vision. Cults by definition do not have these things. People need to be warned about cultism for sure! Cultism can also happen in mainstream religious groups. It's HOW YOU TREAT PEOPLE NOT YOUR BELEIFS THAT MAKES IT A CULT! So- coercion, manipulation, secrets, deception, lack of transparency- that's cultism. I have seen all of this happenn in firaq that claim themselves the saved sect.
I like the out of print book 'snapping' as a basic introduction to cultic behavior. Cults are by definition self serving, dishonest about their core beleifs if they reveal them at all and intollerant of outsiders. People who will not openly identify their doctrines I do not trust. Case in point? The mormons! The baptists ( "We are JUST christians" they say ! :- )
nobody is "just a muslim"! They have beleifs and they should be able to express that freely.
Freedom means never being forced to lie. Cults? They cannot do that!... and they punish ruthlessly honest people.
We need to find out how much people know of their Din, The Qur'an, The sunnaat,Their ibadaat. We should know before we allow anyone to be punishing them by verbal rejection, sly cutting remarks, labelling and social ostrazation. Why? Because its a failure of our entire group duty!
New Muslims are looking at the Hajj as a symbol of Muslim Unity and the universal character of al Islam. Don't betray that with FITNA. Do your house cleaning in private and do it with the best of manners. You'll be glad you did later on when you need that person as an ally.
Wa salaam, ZAYNAH MAHIR
