So the new series is upon us. I'm curious to know your thoughts. Mine, below, are a little shorter than my previous reviews.
Story: Conan is ambushed by some raiders, who break off from finishing him when a lone wanderer comes by. Apparently this guy knew Conan's grandfather, and tells a story...
In short, Conan's grandfather, Connacht, rescued two youths from death from villagers who had already killed their mother. Eventually, Connacht finds out that the villagers figured out the kids were wolf kind (and that's why they tried to execute them), but not before one of them kills a young farm girl. The story is told by one of the brothers, who helped Connacht kill the brother who killed the girl.
Writing:
Not bad. Conan does seem a bit uncharacteristically (and unnecessarily) aggressive towards the old guy. He threatens him after his identity is revealed. It's unclear why.
Art:
The two penciler tandem works well. Each give a different flavor to the issues....I liked it.
Covers:
#1 is the "Tor" cover. eh....
#2 is a Cho cover. Not my cup of tea for Conan.
Overall:
A good read. I'm glad the opening story wasn't a 5 issue arc. It was well paced over 2 issues. Any more issues would have been too much.
