: I've never been. Had a chance to pop by, and
: went to Budapest instead.
prague is nicer in my opinion, but also more touristy recently.
im making my way through vol 1 of the ssoc essential. its nice to finally read some of these classic tales like black nails an witch shall be born, ones that are constantly refered to.
the artworks not as good as i was hoping. its good but i had my first issues with ernie chan so for me he'll always be best.
its also interesting how the adaptions of reh non-conan stories into conan stories noticably dont work. im thinking of the dark man, a great reh tale staring the morose hero torlough o brian. it worked really well staring the vengence lusting torlough. with conan in his place it just doesnt work well. conan is not so grim and somber.
but im really enjoying it (i got ghita of alizarr as well, as im a big frank thorne fan)
:
: I'm with you on the Savage Sword front.
: Definately, those are the best Conan comics.
: I didn't care for much for King Conan and
: the like, but I'm picking up the trades Dark
: Horse is reprinting.

:
: im from Prague.
:
: I only ever went for the black and white
: savage sword look. never got into the
: colour version. i got one dark horse issue
: a few years ago and found it a bit blehh but
: maybe its just me. since i started
: collecting savage sword late, ill probably
: go for the essentials now.
:
: i got my first one and am taking it slowly
:

: merzah,
:
: ...and where abouts are you hailing from?
: Dark Horse Conan is very good, IMO. If
: you're getting the Savage Sword trades, I
: think you'd like some of the early work.
: They adapted a fair amount of REH stories,
: and Cary Nord's art is first rate.
:
: FYI: they're also resetting the Conan
: title, so maybe they'll move it in an
: artistic direction you'll like (if you can
: get).
:
: Cheers,

: sometimes. the problem is i never got into
: the new darkhorse conan so its tough reading
: reviews of comics i wont ever read. plus,
: ive never seen darkhorse in this part o the
: world.
:
: anyway, ive got an essential conan comming
: to me all the way from america tomorrow (i
: hope). so ill have some classic conan in my
: hands. ill pop in here if any questions
: come up:-)

: I know this board is more for current conan
: and red sonja stuff. i was wondering if
: anyone knows of an REH board where you can
: discuss and review all of his works. Ive
: been reading his crusader stories and weierd
: tales stuff and im liking it a lot more than
: his conan stuff (which is good) but
: "Lord of Samarcand" and "lion
: of Tiberias" and the rest are works of
: art.
:
: thanks in advance
