Marty Greenberg received the following from Pete Dunne's daughter. Pete was a radio-gunner in VMB-423.
dear mr. greenburg,
this is pete's daughter, shaela, writing to you. my dad went into the hospital february 26th with pneumonia. he developed numerous other problems which resulted in a major surgery on friday, march 13th. the doctors were not optimistic about the outcome but dad made the decision to undergoe the surgery. he died this morning after fighting for a week. the odds simply were against him. i appreciate your st. patrick's day greeting and, of course, he would have also. please provide me your address (and, full name) so that i may send you a prayer card. i am sorry to inform you via e-mail but do not have a phone number or address. shaela c. dunne (217-626-1243).
