Elmer W. Mory (1924 - 2012)
Elmer W. Mory, 87, of Belleville, Ill., born Aug. 8, 1924, in St. Louis, Mo., died Saturday, April 21, 2012, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Ill.
Mr. Mory was retired from Siemens Manufacturing Company, Freeburg, Ill.
Elmer was a World War II veteran, serving as a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps.
He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church, Belleville, Ill., where he had been a member of the Church Council and had worked with the fish fry and bingo groups. Elmer was a member of Belleville Elks Lodge BPOE 481 and Belleville-Swansea Moose Lodge 1221. He was a founding member of the Little Knights Football Club and was inducted into the Little Knights Hall of Fame.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Margaret M., nee McTighe, Mory, whom he married on Feb. 9, 1946, and who died April 24, 2005; his parents, Albert C. Mory Sr., and Theresa, nee Lagerman, Mory; a granddaughter, Lisa Creek Alderman; two sisters, Bernice Mory and Florence Trojahn; and three brothers, Charles, Albert, and Donald Mory.
Surviving are three daughters and three sons, Peggy (David) Creek of Lee's Summit, Mo., Cathleen (Grady) Farris of Houston, Texas, Susan (John) Gaskill of Edwardsville, Ill., Michael (Vivian) Mory of Arlington, Texas, Thomas (Colleen) Mory of Swansea, Ill., and Kevin Mory of Swansea, Ill.; 10 grandchildren, Doug (Anne) Moore, Ryan (Derek Mullin) Creek, Jesse Mory, Jennifer (Rustan) Stump, Dylan Mory, Sean Mory, Megan Mory, Brett Mory, Connor Mikulait and Cole Mikulait; five great-grandchildren, Rachael Alderman, Benjamin Alderman, Andrew Moore, Tyler Moore, and Zoe Stump; a great-great-grandson, Jude Naudet; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Anne (Josef) Franc; and nieces and nephews.
A 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 25, at St. Henry Catholic Church, Belleville, Ill. Burial with military honors will be at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Ill.
