Hi, Calvin:
It is great to hear from a “long lost” squadron member. Since you joined us on Green Island, it
sounds like you may have been a replacement for one of us who went home. I was a radio-gunner
in VMB-423, joined the squadron in Cherry Point when it first formed and returned to the States
before the squadron went to the Philippines.
I can probably help you find anyone in the squadron who is still living, and will be glad to do so but please satisfy my curiosity:
Can you tell me what you did in the squadron (flight crew, mech, etc.)? Have you been in touch
with any of us since the war? Can you tell me the name of someone (or several) in particular that
you want to know about? Are you thinking of attending the next reunion? Believe me, you would
be most welcome!
Semper Fi, Ted Rundall
