A good friend of mine, Paul White, was also a tail gunner in VMB-423 - he has told and written lots of stories about his days in the squadron. He has at least one snapshot of a group of tail gunners, taken on Green Island, that includes Francis DeCesari. Paul lives in Manasquan, NJ. The last address we had for your Dad was in Mantua, NJ but we stopped hearing from him quite a few years ago. I believe that at one time Paul White tried to get in touch with your Dad, but was unable to find him.
Does your Dad have a copy of the VMB-423 book that was published a few years after the war?
Another VMB-423 book of stories told by squadron members was published in 2002, itled "Remembering VMB-423."
Paul White is not on the internet but if you will send me an Email I will put your Dad in touch with Paul, if he wishes.
By the way, I was a radio-gunner in VMB-423.
Best wishes
Ted
