I have a John Newman b. 1765 in Isle of Wight, VA. but no wife's name. He has a daug. Margaret "Peggy" Newman b. 1787 m. to Wilson Shivers bef. 1812. John had 8 children, Nathaniel Wells Newman being the last child. Nathaniel said that the Newmans had "blue blood in their veins" but didn't say who. Also mentioned a Robert Newman. Could this is be any connection to your Robert Newman?
